Chris Lewis - 2024. Committee 2009 - 2023. Wanderers Away Captain 2009 - Present
Chris Lewis joined the club in 2003 and has been a stalwart of the West Aviat Golf Club over 20 years. In 2008 a previous member Bert Maude came up with the idea of having a group of West Aviat members playing at different golf courses around the Perth Suburbs every second week.
Bert created the West Aviat Wanderers Away group with the first game being
played on the 15th January 2008. Circumstances arose where Bert could no
longer perform the Wanderers Away Captain role and this is when Chris stood
up to the plate to take over the reins.
Chris's first day as Wanderers Away Captain was at the Point Walter Golf Course
on the 17th February 2009 and it has been a role that he has performed since
that day.
I do know that I don't need to point out the effort in organizing the Games for
each year for a Wanderers Group to you and I having not performed the role,
so I can only imagine the effort involved.
The Wanderers Away game attracts up to 50 members and sometimes more.
Some of these members only play in Away Games such is the attraction of the
concept of playing at different courses around the suburbs.
Chris has also been the Welfare Officer since 2014. |
